Insurance - StoreProtect

Safeguard your items with StoreProtect

Your belongings must be protected while they are in storage. You have two options: arrange your own insurance, or choose StoreProtect.

Under our licence, we are only liable for loss or damage to your goods to negligence, with a limited maximum value. This is the standard approach across self storage providers; operators are not insurers and therefore cannot insure the contents of your unit.

StoreProtect is an agreement for us to accept enhanced liability for loss or damage to your goods which may occur during storage. The limit is then replaced by the Maximum Replacement Value of your property.

Things to know:

  • Declare the right value. Your Maximum Replacement Value is the cost of replacing your goods with new equivalents, not what you paid for them. If it is lower than the true total, we reduce any payout proportionally.
  • Keep it accurate. You must tell us in writing if the value of your goods increases, and pay any extra charge that results.
  • Pay on time. StoreProtect charges are set out in your licence agreement and are payable in line with your storage invoices. If the agreed charges are not paid in full, enhanced liability stops and you would then need your own insurance.
  • Some items are not covered. Vehicles and delivery or collection goods stay at the £100 limit. For an item to count as insured contents, it must be locked inside your designated unit and documented on your inventory list. Higher-value jewellery, art, wine and spirits, and electronics need our written permission above set limits.

Cancelling StoreProtect

You can cancel StoreProtect at any time by emailing or writing to your store. If you cancel before storage begins, we refund all StoreProtect charges. If you cancel after storage has started, give us 15 days' written notice.
