What is Self Storage?

Self storage lets you rent a private, secure storage unit on a flexible basis - from a single day to as long as you need. You bring your belongings to one of our centres, lock your unit with your own padlock, and access it whenever you like during opening hours. You are the only person with the key.

Units are available in a range of sizes, from a small locker up to a space the size of a tennis court. Almost anything can be stored, with the exception of perishable goods, living things, and flammable or hazardous materials.

MySafestore is the Belgian brand of the Safestore Group - one of Europe's largest self storage providers, with more than 230 centres across seven countries. In Belgium we operate 7 centres in Brussels, Liège, Charleroi and Nivelles, with a trained team ready to help with all your storage needs.

The process is straightforward. Choose your unit size, reserve it online or by phone, bring your belongings to the centre, and lock up. From that point you can come and go freely during opening hours, and change to a larger or smaller unit at any time if your needs change. Our team is always on hand to help you find the right solution.

People use self storage for all kinds of reasons - moving home, decluttering, renovating, studying abroad, or simply needing extra space for business stock or personal belongings. It is a flexible, affordable alternative to renting a larger property or leaving belongings with family or friends. Whatever your situation, a storage unit gives you a secure, accessible space that works around your life.

Moving In and Out

You can move in the same day you contact us, as long as our centre is open and you have a valid form of ID to sign your contract.

You bring your belongings to the centre yourself. All our centres have ample parking and large loading and unloading areas. If you need help with transport, we can refer you to our trusted removal partners.

No problem - just let us know and we will extend your reservation.

Simply give us notice that you plan to leave - check your contract for the required notice period. Remove all your belongings from your unit, return any access equipment, and our team will handle the rest. There are no cancellation fees or penalties for leaving. Contact your nearest centre to confirm the process.

Access and Facilities

You can access your unit 7 days a week between 6am and 10pm. Outside these hours, all our buildings are monitored by a professional security company.

Ceiling heights range between 2 and 3 metres, depending on the centre.

Yes - all our centres offer trolleys and pallet trucks free of charge for customers to use.

Pricing

Pricing depends on the size of unit you need. We will always recommend the smallest unit that comfortably fits your belongings, to keep your costs as low as possible. Pricing is calculated per square metre, and upper-floor units are generally more affordable than ground floor.

The best way to get an accurate price is to visit your nearest centre or get a quote online. Our team can advise on the most efficient way to organise your unit to make the most of the space.

Yes. We regularly offer introductory discounts for new customers - current offers are shown on each centre's page on our website. You can also call your nearest centre directly to find out the best available rate. Purchases of packing materials are discounted by 20% for active storage customers.

Monthly. All invoices are issued on a monthly basis.

Contracts and Rental Periods

The minimum rental period is one month. After that you can store for as long as you want, there is no maximum rental period.
 

There are no admin fees, cancellation fees, or deposits. You will need a padlock to secure your unit, and we recommend covering your contents with StoreProtect during storage. We can provide a StoreProtect quote in centre or by phone - the cost depends on the declared value of your belongings. Reserving a unit is completely free and carries no obligation.

Yes - you can reserve a unit at your chosen centre directly on our website, or by calling the centre.

Documentation and Identity Verification

A valid form of ID. You will also need to pay your first month and sign your contract before moving in. Contact your nearest centre for full details.

No - you do not need to be a Belgian resident. You will need a valid form of photo ID such as a passport or national identity card. If you are renting on behalf of a business, you may also need to provide company registration details. Contact your nearest centre if you have any questions about the documentation required.

Payment

We encourage payment by direct debit - it is the most convenient and secure option. We also accept payment by bank card in exceptional circumstances.

Security

Security is a priority at every MySafestore centre. All our sites are equipped with staffed reception desks during opening hours, sophisticated alarm systems, 24-hour recorded CCTV, and intruder alarms. Access to the centre is strictly controlled, and you are the only person with access to your unit. All security systems are connected to G4S, a professional guarding company.

Yes - you will need a padlock to secure your unit and keep it private. We stock a range of insurance-approved padlocks in all our centres if you need one.

Outside our standard opening hours of 6am to 10pm, all MySafestore centres are monitored by G4S, a professional guarding company. Alarm systems and 24-hour recorded CCTV remain active at all times. You cannot access your unit outside opening hours, but your belongings are protected around the clock.

Storage Restrictions

The following items are not permitted in any MySafestore centre:

  • Hazardous or toxic materials
  • Polluting or contaminating substances and waste
  • Perishable goods, living or dead animals, and living plants
  • Cash and financial securities, and illegal goods
  • Explosives, firearms, and ammunition

We work closely with police and customs authorities.

Business Storage

Yes. We offer flexible short and long-term contracts for businesses of all sizes, with competitive commercial rates. Contact your nearest centre for a tailored quote.

We offer a range of flexible business storage solutions including stock storage, archive storage, office storage, and warehouse storage. Units are available on flexible contracts with no long-term commitment. Contact your nearest centre for a tailored quote.

This varies by centre - contact your nearest MySafestore directly to find out whether a delivery acceptance service is available at that location. Some centres can accept deliveries on your behalf during staffed hours.

Contents Cover and Liability

Yes - all items stored at MySafestore must be covered during storage. While we take every precaution to protect your belongings, some events outside our control - such as fire or flood - can cause damage. Ensuring your contents are covered is standard practice across the self storage industry.

StoreProtect is MySafestore's own contents cover, available when you sign your contract. By taking out StoreProtect, MySafestore accepts responsibility for your belongings up to an agreed value - protecting them against theft, loss, and damage. It is the simplest way to ensure your belongings are fully covered from the moment you move in.

StoreProtect can be added when you sign your contract at the centre, or by contacting your centre at any point during your rental. You will need to declare the value of the belongings you want covered - the cost of StoreProtect is based on this amount. Speak to the team at your nearest centre for a quote.
