Storage Cancellation Policy

Storage fees remain payable throughout the notice period

When you're ready to vacate your storage unit, you need to give notice at least 15 days before the invoice date in your storage agreement. Notice must be given in writing - either by email, post or at your Safestore location. It must contain your name, unit number and the cancellation date.

If we receive your notice less than 15 days before the date of your next invoice, your storage contract will be extended until the end of your next invoice period. You'll need to pay storage fees for this extra period.

Example: if your invoice period ends on June 30th, we need your notice by the 15th. Notice received on the 16th means your storage ends on the last day of the next invoice period (July 31st) and payment for this time period is still required.

How to move out of your MySafestore unit

  1. Give us your 15 days written notice. Send it by email, post, or drop it in to your store. Include your name, unit number and the date you're leaving.
  2. On your end date, empty the unit. Take all your belongings and leave the unit tidy as you found it. If items are left, you will be charged for an additional invoice period, as your unit is still occupied.
  3. Please take any rubbish with you. We don't provide waste bins, and there's a charge if rubbish is left on site or in our bins.
  4. Take your lock and tell reception you've vacated the unit so we can confirm the end of your contract. If we don't know you've left, we'll carry on charging, so have a word with a team member on your way out.

Check the details of your licence agreement for additonal information.

Questions about moving out of self storage

What notice do I need to give to cancel my storage unit?

At least 15 days' written notice before the end of your current monthly invoice period. It must include your name, unit number and the date you're leaving.

How do I give notice if I want to move out of my storage unit?

By email, by post or in person at your MySafestore location. Include your name, unit number and cancellation date.

What happens if my notice is late?

Your contract is extended to the end of the next invoice period, and storage fees for that period are still payable. Example: if your invoice period ends on 30 June, we need your notice by 15 June. Notice received on 16 June means your storage ends on 31 July.

What do I need to do on moving-out day?

Empty the unit completely and leave it tidy. Take your rubbish with you, as there are no waste bins and a charge applies if rubbish is left behind. Take your lock and tell reception you've left so we can confirm the end of your contract. If items are left in the unit, you'll be charged for an additional invoice period.
